Slab Selection - Time Worth Spending

If there is one piece of advice worth taking if you are in the market for new stone countertops, it is to invest the time in selecting your slab.  I know life is hectic and dragging yourself to a slab yard seems futile, but trust me, it is time worth spending.

When dealing with natural stone slabs, anything can happen.  Mother nature has a way of making every slab different.  In some cases, you might love the slab, but there are many cases where there might be sections of the slab that you are not very fond of.  This is the time to let your fabricator know.  If you don't invest the time to view your slab and communicate the areas of the slab that you don't like, you just might end up having that section right in the center of your island and be disapointed in the result.

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, so don't let someone else make this decision for you.  Take the extra time needed to not only approve the actual slab or slabs you want to use on your next project, but be specific as to what you like and don't like about each slab. There is no guarantee that your fabricator will be able to avoid the areas you dislike, but if you don't ask, you will never know.

You are making a big investment with natural stone countertops, so do yourself a favor and take the time needed with slab selection. In the end, you will be glad you did it.
